The Golden Age Blend is awarded the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2016 Blended Scotch Whisky Trophy following ISC and World Whiskies Awards Trophies earlier this year.
It's been an incredible year for The Golden Age Blend, which was named Best Blended Scotch at the World Whiskies Awards 2016, awarded the Trophy for Best Scotch Blend Over 20 Years Old at the International Spirits Challenge 2016, and has now been awarded the Blended Scotch Whisky Trophy at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2016!
IWSC Judges Tasting Notes:
"A gentle introduction on the nose take you into a saw mill with vintage leather aprons and a coppersmith studio next door. The flavours hidden on the palate are simply toffee and red apple, the two combining for a rich and uncompromising dram. The finish is greater spiced red apples."
We're not sure if a blended Scotch whisky has ever claimed such a clean sweep, but we're extremely proud as well as humbled by this extraordinary achievement. When The Lost Distilleries Blend was named World's Best Blended Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards 2014 we weren't sure when we'd next receive such a prestigious award, but this year has proved even more successful. We're still taking it all in to be honest, it's just amazing.
The Golden Age Blend is a superbly rich, intense and full bodied whisky that stands as a testament to the extraordinary depth of flavour that can be found in some of the marvellous whiskies distilled during the ‘Golden Age’ of distilling spanning the early '60s to the mid '70s.
Made exclusively with whiskies aged for over 40 years, malts from Macallan, Glenrothes, Tamdhu and Bunnahabhain were used as well as well-aged grain whisky from North British at a ratio of 4 parts malt to only 1 part grain. Just 210 bottles are available worldwide.
